Gum Contouring

Reshaping the gumline to improve balance, cleanability, and the foundation for restorative or cosmetic work when clinically appropriate.

Why gum contouring is considered

Uneven gum levels, excess gum tissue, or uneven margins after disease or tooth movement can affect how teeth look and how easy they are to clean. Gum contouring carefully reshapes soft tissue to create a more even, maintainable gumline.

Recommendations are based on examination of gum health, tooth proportions, and your treatment goals. Contouring is only planned when tissues are healthy enough to support the procedure.

How treatment is planned

Your dentist will review what changes are possible, what healing involves, and whether contouring is being done for periodontal, restorative, or aesthetic reasons. In some cases it is coordinated with crowns, veneers, or other restorative care.

Aftercare focuses on gentle cleaning, soft-food recommendations if needed, and follow-up to confirm tissues heal as expected.
