Dr. Kershaw is thankful to Medicine Hat for embracing his practice and looks forward to continuing to serve the community as a next-generation caregiver.

Dr. Benoit Labonne

Dr. Labonne was born and raised in Dawson Creek, Northern British Columbia. Dr. Labonne attended Grande Prairie Regional College for two years and further completed his Bachelor of Science with a double major in Biochemistry and Biological Sciences at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. In the summers between his academic years, Dr. Labonne worked for Oil and Gas, Forestry, City of Grande Prairie, and a building moving company in Spruce Grove. He is familiar with Alberta’s industries and communities. He was accepted and completed his Bachelor of Dental Surgery with honours in Cork, Ireland.

During his time at the Cork University Dental Hospital, Dr. Labonne had clinical rotations through numerous specialties in both Dentistry and Medicine. He found a special interest in his patients’ oral prosthetic occlusal rehabilitation, oral medicine, and restorative treatment. He prides himself on giving his patients all the information to help them with disease prevention and achieve their oral health goals.

Dr. Labonne met Dr. O’Connor in Ireland. Medicine Hat was an ideal city to settle in for these doctors because they both enjoy the community and are within travelling distance on weekends to many of their favourite destinations.

Dr. Labonne enjoys kayaking, fishing, hockey, and basketball. He hopes to make life-long connections in Medicine Hat by volunteering, buying local, and providing personal care through his clinic.

Dr. Anne Marie O’Connor

General Dentist

Dr. O’Connor was born and raised in Cork, Ireland, in a family with six siblings. Dr. O’Connor found herself passionate about medicine after her oldest brother and sister were accepted and completed their training as physicians. She went on to job shadow her own dentist and found that dentistry combined aspects of engineering that she was interested in at a young age, along with medicine which she developed later.

Dr. O’Connor graduated from Cork University Dental Hospital with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery. During her time at the dental hospital, she had the opportunity to rotate through many specialties in Dentistry and Medicine. During her academic pursuit, she met her partner, Dr. Labonne, in Ireland and invited him to work on the dairy farm. In turn, Dr. Labonne invited Dr. O’Connor to Canada in the summer of 2019. After spending the summer in Canada, Dr. O’Connor really enjoyed how friendly Canadians are and decided she wanted to come back to work as a Dentist after graduating.

In her free time, Dr. O’Connor enjoys squash, tending to her many animals, hiking, and is a high-performance vehicle enthusiast. She thoroughly enjoys Medicine Hat, where she strives to make life-long connections with her patients and support the community through volunteering, buying local, and providing personal care through her clinic.
